Ayesha Fazal (she/her)
Co-Director, Co-Founder and Company Dancer
Ayesha Fazal is one of the Co-founders or Move Manchester. She is a dance artist based in Manchester and has Ugandan Asian and Welsh roots. Her love of dance began with freestyle disco before she ventured out into the expressive contemporary world. Ayesha graduated with a First Class BA (Hons) Degree in Dance and Choreography from Falmouth University (2015-2018).
Upon graduation she explored and researched dance companies around Europe, immersing herself in many genres and avenues of dance, movement and art. Ayesha has performed in various dance theatre, site specific and festival works for companies such as Southpaw Dance Company, Rosie Kay Dance Company, Highly Sprung, Icon Theatre, Wriggle Dance Theatre, Sonia Sabri, Keneish Dance and many more. Alongside performing and facilitating with ThickSkin Theatre she is also on their board as a young director. Ayesha is passionate about performing, creating and paving the way for the future of dance. Creating space for young dance artists to follow she strives for keeping dance inclusive, representative and heartfelt.

Currently Ayesha is exploring her diverse heritage and through movement finding ways to connect to this biological history. Ayesha has spent time in India exploring localised movement alongside a course in capoeira and plans to expand this in depth research further in the coming months. Additionally, Ayesha is exploring her south-asian heritage and through network groups for other south-asian dancers expanding her network and knowledge of the contemporary dance scene and offering for south-asian bodies in movement.
